This is preventable!!

A majority of the cases of meningitis on college campuses today could be prevented with a simple vaccination.   As vaccination rates have increased, the incidence of meningitis has decreased substantially.  "In 2019, there were about 371 total cases of meningococcal disease in the U.S."  Highest rates are in those less than 1 year old, followed by those in the 16-23 year old age group.

where to get a shot?

In SUBLETTE COUNTY:  The schools in Big Piney and Pinedale host vaccination clinics during the school hours each year.  Look for information to be sent home with your child or through the school's information systems.

Outside SUBLETTE COUNTY:  Call your local Public Health Clinics or Pediatrician

how do I pay for it?

Most insurance plans cover this vaccine under their preventative care measures.  Even if you participate in the school-based clinics, PLEASE submit your insurance information to reduce the financial burden on the MMF.

If you do not have insurance and reside in Sublette County, the MMF will cover the cost of the vaccinations.
